How are your fantasy baseball salary cap values calculated?
Our salary cap calculator leverages consensus projections and VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) to create dollar values. It allows you to enter your league settings to get a customized output. The value-based approach of the calculations helps to identify players who will provide the most incremental value to your team. As an example, a catcher with identical projected stats as a 1st baseman will typically be valued higher. That's because quality catchers are scarcer than quality first basemen. All things equal, the scarcer a position is, the more likely you'll have an advantage over your opponents by grabbing a strong player at that position. We factor this – along with the settings you input – into every dollar value calculated.
What specific settings can I customize?
We offer customization of all key aspects of your league settings. This includes basic settings such as the number of teams, salary cap budget, roster positions, and stat categories for your league. Dollar values can be tailored based on the % budget split that gets allocated towards hitters and pitchers. Lastly, you can use our Zeile™ consensus projections to power the dollar values or select individual projection sources.
Do your salary cap values adjust for inflation?
Yes, our recommended salary cap values support both keeper inflation and in-draft inflation. If you're in a keeper league, it is recommended that you select the keeper inflation option before generating your salary cap values. This will allow the Salary Cap Calculator to bake in how your league's keeper costs impact the dollar values of the remaining player pool. For in-draft inflation, there is a setting within the Draft Assistant that, when checked off, will update your salary cap values on the fly based on how your fantasy baseball draft is progressing.
