The Rays have placed Chris Devenski on the 15-day IL with right knee tendinitis.
Fantasy Impact
Devenski has not pitched since Friday, so the injury was likely bothering him over the weekend. The Rays have recalled Jacob Lopez from Triple-A Durham to provide depth in the bullpen.
Chris Devenski and the Tampa Bay Rays are in agreement on a one-year contract with a club option.
Fantasy Impact
Devenski lands back with Tampa Bay where he finished the season last year. He posted a 2.08 ERA across nine appearances with the Rays last year.
The Angels are placing Chris Devenski on the injured list with a hamstring injury.
Fantasy Impact
There is no word yet on a potential timetable for Devenski. There should be a corresponding move announced on Monday.
RHP Chris Devenski blew the save but picked up the win on Sunday when he allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts over one inning in the D-Backs 8-4 win over the Rockies.
Fantasy Impact
Devenski entered in the eighth inning to protect a 4-2 Diamondbacks lead. He allowed a double, a pair of singles, and hit a batter to blow the save for the Diamondbacks. He eventually got out of the inning but the Arizona offense was able to pick him up in the bottom half of the frame, which gave him the win. While it was encouraging to see Devenski see some high-leverage work, the Arizona bullpen is kind of a mess and should be a avoided for fantasy purposes.
An interesting story is developing out of NL West as the Diamondbacks have placed reliever Chris Devenski on the restricted list for "personal reasons," according to the team. The placement is not related to COVID-19, but no further information is known. Manager Torey Lovullo is expected to address the news in his postgame press conference.
Fantasy Impact
In general, placement on the restricted list could mean many things, including suspension, personal leave, or some other type of non-injury absence from the team. In Devenski's case, the team says personal reasons are the culprit for this specific move. We'll know more later tonight, but hopefully all is well with Devenski. He owns a career 3.39 ERA and has allowed two runs on two hits over two innings this season.
