Jaylen Waddle
WR - Miami Dolphins
2024 Outlook
Jaylen Waddle has signed a three-year, $84.75 million contract with $76 million in guarantees with the Miami Dolphins.
Fantasy Impact
This ties the young receiver to the explosive Miami offense for the long run. With Tyreek Hill contemplating retirement in the next several years, the Dolphins needed to secure their future and did so with this deal. Waddle is a hyper productive reciever when on the field, but struggled with injuries in 2023 and had his fewest targets and receptions since entering the league in 2021. He’s a high end WR2 with upside behind Hill in Miami’s offense and is a great redraft and dynasty asset for both contending and rebuilding teams.
Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle is expected to have his fifth-year option picked up by the front office, says team general manager Chris Grier.
Fantasy Impact
Waddle has been an excellent pick for the Dolphins since being taken sixth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. With three straight 1,000-yard, four-TD seasons to start his career (3,385 yards and 18 TDs), Waddle has been an efficiency monster while serving as the team's WR2 alongside Tyreek Hill. He has averaged 13.5 yards per catch and will likely be a big part of Miami's future with Hill hinting at a possible early retirement in a few years.
Dolphins GM Chris Grier laughed when asked about the idea of trading Jaylen Waddle.
Fantasy Impact
“No thoughts of trading Jaylen Waddle. He'll be around here for a long time," Grier said. Waddle dealt with some nagging injuries last season, finishing the year with 1,014 yards and three touchdowns on 72 receptions.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle is officially active for Saturday’s matchup with the Chiefs.
Fantasy Impact
Waddle was officially listed as questionable with an ankle injury. After missing two games with a high-ankle sprain, Waddle will return and look to help advance the Dolphins to the divisional round.
Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle missed practice on Thursday with an ankle injury, his second missed practice of the week.
Fantasy Impact
This sets up Friday to be an important day for Waddle's development in terms of his status for Week 18. It was considered a possibility that Waddle could be available, but if he can't at least log a limited participation on Friday, he may be unable to play. With the Dolphins missing out on the No. 1 seed in Week 17, they're now fighting to even win the division in Week 18. An extra week for Waddle could have been key, but his situation will need to be monitored on Friday. According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, he did not have a notable limp or ankle wrap in the locker room at practice.
